5 Steps to Reclaiming Your Life

“How do you do it?”

“How do you stay positive?”

“How do you move through every day?”

My secret: There are five simple steps to reclaiming your life back.

Step 1: Be in gratitude.

The first step to reclaiming your life is to practice waking up in gratitude. I look for all the great things that are in my life, whether it's my beautiful little puppies, whether it's my businesses, my partner. Whatever it is, I'm grateful for it because in truth, that is something to be grateful for. We have so many things. I have a roof over my head, I have heat, I have air conditioning. Even if I didn't have those things; let's say I didn't have a house; let’s say I had an apartment, let's say I was sleeping on someone's couch (which I have done). The point is that you have to find gratitude no matter where you live. If you live in a box, be grateful for the box. If you live in a mansion, wow, be grateful for the mansion. If you live in a three bedroom house with seven people, be grateful for that because it really does set a tone every day.

It's kind of like waking up and going, “Oh, my life sucks.” Well, guess what? It's going to suck. So, I wake up every day and say, “You know what, I have gratitude today. I'm grateful for the things I have.”

Step 2: Set intentions

Now, you say, “What the hell is that?” Well, setting intentions is where I will say, “Today I'm going to have a great day. Today I'm going to motivate myself, I'm going to move forward, I'm going to do things that benefit my life, that kind of give me some kind of “Yay.” So, I'm going to make those changes and make those choices. I'm going to set an intention that I'm going to have a great day. I'm going to say, “Hey, Universe, I'm going to have a great day today. I ask you to assist me in this.” We kind of partner up so I feel like that's what I do; I partner with the Universe.

Step 3: Personal Space

Then I also have to remember that even if I'm living with seven people or I'm living with two people, or I'm living by myself, there is something called your personal space. That's something that most people totally forget about. You totally forget. Well, I'm here to remind you about that. The personal space that I call my space, right here, which is you, me, whatever it is, you have a personal space. That personal space is all yours. Nobody can do anything to it unless you give your power away.

What is giving your power away?

Let’s say I'm driving in my car, going down the street and some guy gets pissed at me and starts flipping me the bird because I somehow cut him off, which I didn't see him maybe or I was kind of listening to music or something. Sometimes you just don't see somebody or you don't know what's going on in someone's life. The point being is I have to remember that that person just flipped me off. I can choose to say, “Fine, same to you buddy” or I can turn around and say, “You know what? Your day, my space. You're not getting into my space, I'm in my car.

You have a choice of whether or not you're going to let people affect your day, affect how you feel. It's really important that you not let people do that.

Step 4: RPCI

Now what happens if somebody does. Well, we've all done that. But I do this thing called a Reclaim/Proclaim Command. What I mean by reclaim is “I reclaim that...you know how you get stuck, you get crap, you choose things, you let the guy who flipped you off piss you off, get you upset. So, I reclaim that that guy pissed me off. I reclaim that I let him into my personal space which I have to be accountable for. So, I realize then that “you know, I have to reclaim the fact that I'm still sitting here spinning about it after several hours and it's kind of affecting my day.”

Then I move into what's called a proclaim. “I proclaim that I'm in my driver's seat and that nobody can get into my personal space. My personal space right here is mine” and I can choose to shut them out and say “Uh uh” or I can choose to set it in. So, I'm going to proclaim that it doesn't matter, that I'm in gratitude, I'm in my personal space and “Hey, dude, go on in your life. Let the Universe be whatever you claim it to be.” I choose to be in my driver's seat, in my space, in a better place.

I then do what's called a command statement, you know, to BE who I am. So, I command that I am in my personal space, that I am the creator of my world even though people out there are creating too. I still have a choice whether or not I'm going to accept that gift or not, whether or not I'm going to go, “Ya, I'm going to take on that person's bad day. I'm going to take on the cranky boss. Ya, I'm going to take it all on.” I command that I'm in my space. I command that I am the creator of my life because you're commanding to say, “No.”

No is not a bad word. I just want to let you know that. Some people think it is, I don't. I think it's a boundary setter. I have to continually, continually remember that I am the commander of my ship, my personal space, my car.

So, with that I reclaim the bad day, because I did create it. I proclaim that I'm in the driver's seat and I'm changing gears, that's I'm in a positive place, that I choose to be in this happy, better place, that I have gratitude. I command it to be so for I am in creation with the Universe. I call it One True Light Consciousness, some people call it something else, but mine is... I command that I am co-creating with One True Light Consciousness to have a better life, a better journey, and a better way of living.

Step 5: Attitude

Finally, there is a fifth one. The fifth one is, I remind myself. Every time I find myself in a bad, bad, bad place I remind myself that attitude is 90%, life is 10%. Good God, what does that mean? That means that if I'm my attitude, if I'm cranky or happy, whatever it is, that means that my attitude is literally my entire life. 10% is those people out there that are flipping me off or getting upset and here I am letting that 10% drive me down the road. I remind myself that “No, no, no. Gratitude.” I set the intention every day, I stay in my personal space, I reclaim, proclaim, and command my life, and that I am the 90% attitude in my entire day. So, my entire life is banked on me, so who am I going to invest in? An asshole who flips me off or Moi?

I think that's a way better way to go because I can't control him but I can control how I'm going to respond to it. So, if that's what you want to know, people out there in internet-land , that's what I do every day. And I remind myself throughout the day because you're going to have stuff come up, come up, come up. Now, what are you going to do about it? Gratitude – Thank you so much for reminding me that I'm in my personal space and I was letting you be in it and that's not happening any more. I reclaim that I gave my power away. I proclaim I've got my power back. I command it to be so for I am creating all of this with One True Light Consciousness and finally, last but not least, if all else fails, I remember I'm the attitude and I choose to be in joy, I choose to be happy, I choose to be in my own love affair of my own life and be in great happiness.
